About Us
Our Mission
We, Network for the Improvement of World Health, are an action-driven organization that forges global partnerships to address local health challenges.
Our Objectives
To achieve this mission, we leverage the knowledge, skills, and resources of the public and private sectors to build sustainable health solutions for communities throughout the world. We aim to:
Create a pro-active network of resources, including domestic and international health organizations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, academic institutions, and public and private sector entities;
Provide important technical and strategic support, and research to our partners;
Influence global health priorities by providing information to policy makers and key stakeholders based on our experiences in the field and the documentation of best-practices;
Promote international health volunteerism by assisting and coordinating efforts to participate in health projects in developing countries;
Use communication technologies such as the Internet, e-mail forums, and online databases as a means of making information accessible to the international health and development communities.
Our Philosophy
Global health is a rapidly growing field. Technological advances have brought distant cultures closer than ever before. Health information from different regions of the world has become more easily accessible, thus raising the level of awareness about health status around the world. Notwithstanding the tremendous advances made in medical sciences, treatment techniques, biotechnology, and the development of pharmaceutical products, millions of people around the world lack access to basic health care services. In order to address the severe impact of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, as well as chronic disease burden, it is imperative to take a coordinated, community-based, and pro-active approach toward improving the health of people in impoverished communities.
