Six boats inaugurated to boost health delivery

The Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, on Saturday inaugurated six fibre-glass boats at Tapa-Abotoase for health delivery to deprived islands communities on the Volta Lake.
Procured by the government at ˘1.8 billion, the boats would be used by health workers to enhance their health delivery in the area.
The Vice President regretted that the communities had no access to social amenities and suffered deprivations.
He said: “We are, therefore, committed to implementing policies that will bridge the gap between these communities and the urban areas.(”)
Alhaji Mahama said the fibre-glass boats would assist health workers (delivery of) health services to people in the island communities.
The boats have motors, life jackets and are durable, modern and of international standard, built to the client’s specifications.
The Vice President advised private commercial boat operators to ensure that their boats were safe for transportation on thee Volta Lake to avoid accidents.
